USA: Temporary Glitch in Pilots’ Messaging System Could Cause Flight Delays

U.S. Transportation Secretary Shawn Duffy said late on Saturday that the U.S. pilots’ main messaging system experienced a temporary glitch that could cause flight delays on Sunday.

Duffy mentioned on the “X” platform that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is working to restore the “Air Mission Notification” system.

He continued: “There is no current impact on the national airspace system, as a backup system is operational. The FAA has set up a hotline to communicate with relevant aviation authorities and will provide system updates every 30 minutes,” according to a Reuters report.

In January 2023, a failure in the Air Mission Notification system led to the first nationwide grounding of flights in the U.S. since 2001, disrupting over 11,000 flights.
