U.S. Military: 5 ISIS Members Killed in Attack Led by Iraqi Forces in Kirkuk

The U.S. Central Command announced on Tuesday that on January 31, Iraqi security forces, supported by U.S.-led coalition forces, conducted precise airstrikes in Kirkuk, resulting in the deaths of five ISIS members.
The U.S. Central Command stated in a message on X (formerly Twitter) that during an initial sweep after the strike, several explosive vests and other materials were found. They added that the airstrikes were carried out thanks to the Central Command forces.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense had previously reported on Sunday that the Governor of Kirkuk and several other senior ISIS leaders had been killed.
A statement from the Ministry of Defense’s media office said, “The army’s aviation successfully carried out a precise airstrike based on intelligence and surveillance by drone aircraft, destroying a hideout for ISIS terrorists.”
The Joint Operations Command of the Iraqi Army had earlier announced the discovery of the bodies of seven suicide bombers, wearing explosive vests, who were killed in an airstrike carried out by Iraqi F-16 aircraft in the Al-Zarka area, which lies along the border between Salah ad-Din and Kirkuk, on Friday.
