Massive Food Aid Convoy Arrives in Wad Madani

A massive food aid convoy, totaling 522 tons, has arrived in Wad Madani, the capital of Al-Jazira State. The aid was provided by the “Idafa” organization in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP).
The convoy was received by the Governor of Al-Jazira, the Security Committee, the Minister of Finance, and the Secretary-General of the government.
Governor Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair praised the support, emphasizing that it arrived at a time when citizens are in urgent need. He called on the relevant authorities to swiftly distribute the food supplies to meet the immediate needs of the population, particularly given the difficult conditions in the state.
For his part, Ali Abdel Wahab, Deputy Executive Director of Madani locality, commended the efforts of “Idafa” and the WFP, noting that both organizations have consistently provided assistance. He confirmed that food distribution would begin immediately and expressed gratitude to the state government for efficiently managing the crisis, as well as to the Security Committee and all supporting entities for their efforts.
Meanwhile, the Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, Asaad Al-Sir, thanked “Idafa” and the WFP for their assistance, stating that this shipment is the second provided by the organization and is designated for Greater Madani locality, with additional shipments planned to cover other localities. He affirmed that efforts would continue to ensure aid reaches all those in need.
Mudathir Othman, Secretary-General of “Idafa,” explained that the aid was provided in response to the needs of returnees from displacement and aims to address the food gap in Al-Jazira State. He noted that the supplies include lentils, flour, sorghum, salt, and oil, which will be distributed in Greater Madani locality, with future shipments planned to cover other areas.
