Sudan Events – Follow-ups
A member of the Sovereign Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, General Ibrahim Jaber, along with the Federal Minister of Urban Development Salah Hamid Ismail and Khartoum’s governor Ahmed Osman, inspected several locations and facilities in the state, including Shambat Bridge, the Omdurman military area, the Grand Market, and the Teaching Hospital.
They assessed the damage caused to Shambat Bridge due to the deliberate targeting by the rebel militia of public facilities, services, and civilian properties.
General Jaber was briefed on the possibility of rehabilitating the bridge and completing essential aspects to restore it for service under a short-term plan.
He directed the Ministry of Infrastructure to expedite the work after completing the engineering contracts with companies and contractors, emphasizing the importance of reopening the bridge to facilitate the voluntary return of citizens.
Additionally, he inspected the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts and the return of commercial activity at the Grand Omdurman Market, commending the Khartoum State Government’s efforts to reopen it in a short time.
