Austrian Court Issues Verdict Against Young Man Over Alleged Attack on Taylor Swift Concerts

The first trial resulting from investigations into alleged plans to attack American singer Taylor Swift’s concerts in Vienna last year delivered its verdict on Monday.
The Vienna Regional Court convicted a 19-year-old Iraqi linked to the main suspect on charges of promoting the terrorist organization ISIS. The court sentenced the defendant to two years in prison, with 18 months suspended, for participating in a terrorist group and a criminal organization.
The young man was not accused of any direct involvement in the alleged conspiracy against Swift’s concerts in August 2024. However, the public prosecutor’s office charged him with distributing criminal content on social media to recruit new supporters for the organization.
Swift’s concerts in the Austrian capital were canceled following the emergence of attack threats.
