Russia is Ready to Rebuild What the War Has Destroyed in Sudan

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ali Youssef Al-Sharif, met with the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Alexander Kozlov, who is the head of the Russian side of the Joint Ministerial Committee, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Moscow, Russia’s capital.

The meeting discussed the bilateral relations between Sudan and the Russian Federation, focusing on economic and trade cooperation.

The Foreign Minister provided a comprehensive briefing on the impacts of the war on the country’s economic performance, highlighting the victories of the Armed Forces in various operational theaters. He mentioned that Sudan has developed a comprehensive plan to rebuild what was destroyed by the war and requested the minister to encourage Russian companies in both the public and private sectors across various fields, particularly vital sectors like mining, energy, oil, and agriculture. He emphasized that Sudan is relying heavily on Russia’s contribution to the reconstruction process in the post-war period.

For his part, the Russian Minister of Natural Resources praised the relations between the two countries, pointing out that there is a direction to support and develop ties with Sudan in the coming period. He stressed the importance of working on enhancing trade exchanges and encouraging investments between the two countries, reaffirming the readiness of both the public and private sectors in Russia, through the Joint Ministerial Committee, to advance and implement bilateral projects that will serve the mutual interests of both peoples.

The Russian minister also confirmed their readiness to take practical steps for cooperation and implement joint projects between the government and private sectors in fields such as natural resources, energy, mining, oil, educational programs, and increasing scholarship opportunities in Russian universities and institutes.

At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their commitment to continuing consultations for the convening of the eighth session of the Joint Committee in Sudan later this year, especially given the many projects and plans related to reconstruction in Sudan.
