U.S. and Egyptian Foreign Ministers Discuss the Need to End Hostilities in Sudan

U.S. State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdel Aty, in Washington. According to Bruce, the two ministers emphasized the importance of the U.S.-Egypt partnership, which includes promoting peace, security, and regional stability.

Regarding Sudan, the ministers discussed “the need to pressure the warring parties to end hostilities and expand humanitarian aid delivery.”

Bruce added that Rubio thanked his Egyptian counterpart for Egypt’s mediation efforts in securing the release of hostages, continuing humanitarian aid deliveries across Gaza, and accepting medical evacuations from Gaza.
