Sudanese Foreign Minister Ali Yusuf confirmed that Khartoum has reached an understanding with Moscow regarding the agreement on the Russian naval base.
Yusuf stated that Russia thwarted attempts to send international forces to Sudan, expressing his gratitude for Russia’s support in the UN Security Council.
He emphasized that the Sudanese army’s victories in battle strengthen Sudan’s international position and reaffirmed the country’s rejection of foreign interference in its internal affairs.
He added, “We are negotiating with countries that support the Rapid Support Forces’ rebellion.”
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had previously expressed deep concern over developments in Sudan during talks with his Sudanese counterpart in Moscow.
Lavrov stressed that Moscow would take additional diplomatic steps to work toward a peaceful resolution in Sudan.
He also declared Russia’s readiness to collaborate with other international players to help normalize the situation in Sudan.
