Amorim: “I and Postecoglou are in a similar situation”

Roberto Amorim, manager of Manchester United, a team in the English Premier League, said on Friday that there is something that connects him to his counterpart at Tottenham Hotspur, the Australian Ange Postecoglou, due to their commitment to their ideas and plans, regardless of the criticisms.
Ahead of their upcoming league match on Sunday, both clubs are in the lower half of the table, a position neither team is used to. United sits in 13th place, two points ahead of Tottenham in 14th.
Both managers have tried to convince their players of their playing philosophies, which has cost the teams defensively on several occasions. Amorim believes they are facing the same problem due to their dedication to their ideas.
Amorim told reporters on Friday: “I am a huge admirer of Ange Postecoglou. I come from a different culture, I’m Portuguese, and all Portuguese coaches can adapt. I adapt. It’s easy for me to use one playing system right now because I believe that if you can follow this system, you can play multiple systems at once. This is my idea. But we are not winning, and I understand the connection between me and Ange. We face the same problems. In my opinion, and with all due respect, I am in a bigger club, under more pressure. I understand the connection, and he is really an important coach.”
