Musiala extends his contract with Bayern Munich until 2030

Attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, Bayern Munich’s star, has agreed to extend his contract for an additional four years, until June 30, 2030, according to a statement released by the German Bundesliga leaders on Friday.

Bayern did not disclose the details of Musiala’s contract (21 years old), but local media reported two release clauses (175 million euros two years before the end of the contract and 100 million euros one year before its expiration), along with a significant increase in his annual salary (to match the level of English striker Harry Kane, about 24 to 25 million euros, compared to his current 9 million euros).

Musiala said in the statement: “I am really happy. Bayern is one of the biggest clubs in the world. This is where I took my first steps in professional football, and I am convinced that I can achieve great things with this club in the coming years.”

The player, born in Stuttgart, added: “I feel at home when I am in Munich or at the club with our amazing fans. We have a lot of things we want to achieve. I’m excited about everything that’s coming.”

For his part, Bayern’s sporting director Max Eberl said: “Jamal Musiala represents the present and the future, and he is one of the faces of our new generation. With Jamal, we convinced one of the most sought-after players in the world to stay at Bayern for the medium term.”

He continued: “Players like him allow us to send a clear message to everyone that Bayern will have a significant presence in the future as well.”

Bayern’s president, Herbert Hainer, also said: “What a great gift on the club’s 125th anniversary for the club and its fans. People go to the stadium for players like Jamal Musiala. He is truly an exceptional player.”

Musiala progressed through Bayern’s youth ranks and was promoted to the first team in 2020. He has played 193 matches in various competitions so far, scoring 58 goals and providing 38 assists.

The young player joined the German national team in 2021 and has played 38 matches, scoring 7 goals.
