Norwegian Official Reaffirms Support for Sudan’s Unity to Al-Burhan

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, praised Norway’s stance on Sudan and its support for the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and stability.

During his meeting with the Norwegian Special Envoy to Sudan, Andreas Stiansen, Al-Burhan reiterated the Sudanese government’s commitment to making every effort and providing the necessary facilities to ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to all those in need.

The Director of European and American Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Nour Al-Daim Abdel Qader, stated that the meeting addressed the latest security and political developments in the country, as well as the government’s efforts to achieve a civilian democratic transition and launch an inclusive dialogue to build national consensus on Sudan’s key issues. He highlighted Norway’s active role in supporting national dialogue.

The ambassador also emphasized the importance of delivering humanitarian aid to its beneficiaries. He noted that Al-Burhan mentioned, during the meeting, the return of millions of Sudanese to their cities and villages due to the victories achieved by the armed forces in various areas and their success in repelling the terrorist militia responsible for destroying the country’s infrastructure.

He added that Sudan looks forward to strengthening cooperation with Norway and receiving its support for a comprehensive Sudanese dialogue that paves the way for democratic transition and an end to the war.

For his part, Norwegian Envoy Andreas Stiansen reaffirmed his country’s support for Sudan’s unity, security, and stability, stressing that any peace process must be Sudanese-led and owned.

The envoy explained that his visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations, support dialogue and democratic transition, and achieve peace. He underscored the importance of overcoming challenges through cooperation and focusing on the objectives of Sudanese dialogue while ensuring the delivery of humanitarian aid and essential services to citizens.
