An Uninnocent Campaign

Azmi Abdelrazek
Ithar Khalil Ibrahim, the “niece of the Minister of Finance,” wrote a post on her page insulting the leader of Sudan Shield and calling for his removal and punishment. She disabled public comments, which confirms that this campaign is not innocent. Those behind it aim to monopolize arms for a specific group, using them to blackmail the state, regardless of the massacres that have taken place in Gezira and Central States and the people’s right to defend their land and honor.
This campaign has also opened the door to an important demand — accountability. However, Ithar must understand that accountability cannot be selective, serving only her ambitions and political interests. It must encompass all those who have committed crimes against this nation, starting with those who created the Rapid Support Forces and those who claimed neutrality for over a year while Darfur was subjected to burning, destruction, and rape.
Accountability should also include Malik Agar, who burned the Sudanese flag in plain sight and brought the war into Blue Nile State, causing suffering for the population. It should extend to Minawi, who destroyed El Fasher Airport and burned seven aircraft when he was a rebel. It must also reach the leaders of the Justice and Equality Movement, who sought help from a neighboring state during the “Long Arm” operation to invade Khartoum. They chanted “Destroy the buildings, destroy the buildings” and killed army and security officers in Omdurman, terrorizing peaceful citizens in their homes.
Accountability is essential, Doctor, and it must apply to everyone. Those responsible must be stripped of power above all else — not only when it suits your interests.
