New Weight and Measurement Equipment Arrives in River Nile State

Dr. Ahmed Sayed Ahmed Omar, Director of the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Corporation for the River Nile sector, revealed that the sector had received weighting devices of 20, 10, and 5 kilograms and petroleum seals in accordance with the new metric system. He confirmed to (SUNA) that acquiring these scales is one of the essential requirements for the sector’s measurement and calibration department and a key necessity for inspection campaigns and enforcing control over measuring instruments through legal metrology to ensure fair trade and prevent fraud and misrepresentation.
The measurement and calibration department explained that these scales are used for calibrating different types of scales (platform, double-pan, and load cell tests in electronic scales and mobile weighing), as well as other weighing devices, grain measures, and liquid measures in liters (for milk and cooking oils) and kilograms for volume measurements. For fuel pumps, lead seal discs, sealing wires, and seals, along with sets of petroleum liters (20, 10, and 5), are used to ensure the accuracy and reliability of petroleum measurements.
The Corporation emphasized the importance of calibration for measurement accuracy and compliance with reference standards, ensuring the traceability and precision of instruments, which impacts product quality and evolves with technological advancements.
