The 6th Infantry Division in El Fasher denied the validity of the news published by “Darfur 24” on its website, which claimed that fighting had reached the center of El Fasher near the army headquarters.
In a statement, the 6th Division described the report as fabricated and based on doctored videos circulated by the militia to mislead public opinion. The division added that the militia hadn’t even seen the 6th Division with their own eyes since the war erupted on April 15, 2023. On that day, the militia suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment inside the division’s headquarters and fled, leaving their corpses on the battlefield. “If it hadn’t been for the burial committee formed by former North Darfur Governor Nimir, their bodies would never have been laid to rest,” the statement said.
The division added that anyone familiar with El Fasher knows that the distance between the army’s positions and its headquarters is only a few meters, whereas the last clashes on Monday took place kilometers away, completely outside the city. It pointed out that the areas now being mentioned by the militia can only be seen through sniper scopes, and that entering them is merely a fantasy—“a hungry man’s dream of bread.”
