Arab League: No Legitimacy for Any Parallel Government in Sudan

The spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ambassador Gamal Roshdy, affirmed that the Arab Summit held in Baghdad reached full consensus on the Sudanese issue. The final statement included explicit support for Sudan’s state institutions and a firm rejection of any attempts to form a parallel government, stressing that this matter enjoys Arab unanimity due to the serious threat it poses to Sudan’s unity.

In an interview with Al-Qahera News Channel, Roshdy noted that the statement also emphasized the importance of supporting Sudan in preserving its national institutions from collapse and promoting opportunities for a political solution through the formation of an independent, elected civilian government. He pointed out that the summit was preceded by intensive preparatory efforts, which led to the formulation of a unified Arab vision on this complex issue.

Roshdy confirmed that the Sudanese crisis is a source of deep concern for the Arab League and that the consensus reached during the summit reflects a unified Arab stance supporting Sudan’s unity and stability and rejecting any divisions or alternative plans that threaten the fragmentation of the state.
