
The Governor of Northern State, Major General Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid, issued directives to take the necessary measures to protect antiquities from violations, particularly those resulting from mining activities and theft.
This came during his meeting on Sunday with the Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Tourism and Antiquities in the state, Al-Sadiq Awad, where the governor stressed the need to include tourism in the twinning programs with the Arab Republic of Egypt, in a way that enhances joint cooperation in this vital field.
Al-Sadiq Awad explained that the governor also emphasized the importance of activating partnerships with the private sector in the tourism field to achieve the desired economic return, affirming the government’s commitment to involving the local community in tourism activities.
The governor also pledged to support the tourism sector in the upcoming phase, working to develop its infrastructure and enact the necessary laws and regulations to organize tourism activity and ensure its sustainability.
