For the Fifth Time: Smuggled Weapons and Ammunition Seized in Shendi

For the fifth time, security forces in Shendi have seized a cache of regular and specialized weapons and various types of ammunition in a special operation dubbed “Hippopotamus.”

The operation resulted in the confiscation of Kalashnikovs, Dushkas, G3 rifles, and “Qarnoff” weapons, along with 11,350 Qarnoff rounds, 2,600 Kalashnikov rounds, a fully equipped sniper rifle with a scope, a large number of spare magazines, and 53 phosphorus and conventional shells.

Khalid Abdel Ghaffar Al-Sheikh, the Executive Director and Head of the Security Committee in Shendi locality, praised the joint force of intelligence, military intelligence, and police who executed the operation, affirming the professionalism and competence of the security apparatus in Shendi.

He noted that this fifth seizure within a short period reflects the vigilance and high capabilities of the joint force, which continues to act as a vigilant guardian protecting the country from all security threats.

Abdel Ghaffar affirmed that Shendi locality and the River Nile State will remain secure, God willing, thanks to the efforts of the joint forces. He also announced a financial reward for the force involved in the seizure.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Ibrahim, Deputy Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division in Shendi, stated that the seized weapons belonged to the Rapid Support Forces militia and were smuggled from Khartoum, passing through River Nile State to other areas.

He urged citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity and emphasized the crucial role of information in curbing and intercepting smuggling operations, especially those involving weapons.
