On Wednesday, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia carried out a series of systematic attacks targeting villages west of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur state, resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries and the displacement of hundreds of civilians, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.
According to testimonies, the forces completely burned down three villages, looted residents’ properties, assaulted dozens of civilians, randomly opened fire on village elders, and destroyed infrastructure, forcing hundreds to flee to safer areas.
Mohamed Khamis Dodo, spokesperson for the displaced people of Zamzam Camp, told Al Jazeera Net that the attacks caused many deaths and injuries, in addition to a large wave of displacement. He stated that the affected villages were “Golo,” “Garni,” and “Hilla Sharif.”
Dodo also mentioned another incident that occurred two days prior, where RSF members kidnapped two girls and killed three people in “Hilla Dabba Al-Noor,” near “Golo,” with the bodies later transferred to El Fasher for burial.
Meanwhile, Colonel Ahmed Hussein Mustafa, spokesperson for the Joint Forces of the Armed Struggle Movements, told Al Jazeera Net that these attacks are part of a series of ethnically motivated assaults aimed at displacing the indigenous population.
He affirmed that the joint forces will continue military operations against the RSF militia and its allies across the country, particularly in the western areas of El Fasher.
He added that “victory is near,” emphasizing that Darfur will be the decisive battleground against these militias.
According to activist Mohamed Adam, the RSF militia stormed three villages west of El Fasher on Wednesday, set them on fire, killing 12 people and displacing hundreds.
Adam noted that the forced displacement has left the fleeing population facing extremely dire humanitarian conditions in the valleys and mountains.
