A crisis erupted between the civilian administration of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia in Nyala and its members and soldiers following a decision by the administration to expel all displaced persons who had arrived from Khartoum and Gezira and relocate them to camps.
Sources told Al-Tayba that most of the displaced individuals are families and relatives of RSF militia soldiers and collaborators from Khartoum and Gezira. The sources reported that the soldiers refused to have their families expelled from Nyala and sent into the unknown, particularly in light of perceived discrimination in the selection of who gets expelled. Some displaced people from the Rizeigat tribe were allowed to remain in homes inside Nyala.
According to the sources, RSF soldiers, especially those not affiliated with the Rizeigat tribe, expressed clear discontent and informed their families of their refusal to implement the relocation order.
The head of the so-called civilian administration of the RSF in South Darfur State, Youssef Idris, had announced the administration’s intention to relocate displaced persons who had arrived in Nyala from El Fasher, Khartoum, Sennar, Kordofan, and Gezira to the areas of Manawashi and Kilo 14.
