The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, issued a decision to form a national committee to investigate U.S. allegations that the Sudanese army used chemical weapons during the war.
In a statement released Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:
“In commitment to Sudan’s international obligations, including the Chemical Weapons Convention, and as part of the transparency adopted by the Sudanese government—and its rejection of the validity of the U.S. administration’s accusations—the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council has issued a decision to form a national committee. The committee will include the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, and the General Intelligence Service to investigate the U.S. allegations and submit its report immediately.”
