Army Hands Over 66 Children Used by the Militia in War to Child Council

The Third Division Intelligence handed over more than 66 children, along with 5 others turned in by the Artillery Corps in Atbara, who had been used by the militia in the war, to their families through the National Council for Child Welfare.

The Deputy Governor of River Nile State and Minister of Culture, Information, and Communications, Mustafa Mohammed Othman Al-Sharif, stated that the armed forces, by returning these children—forced into war by the rebellious RSF militia—to their families, has sent a strong message to all who preach about human rights and child rights.

He stressed that this act embodies the noble values of the Sudanese people and the ethics of war, even though the conflict was imposed by regional and international forces.

He added that the armed forces have set the ideal example, in stark contrast to the RSF militia, which tortured and abused both civilians and captured soldiers.

From his side, Khalid Abdel Ghaffar Al-Sheikh, Executive Director of Shendi Locality, praised the armed forces for carrying out this major humanitarian act, calling it a living lesson to the world, which often only recognizes such rights in the papers of international organizations or the speeches of their leaders.

He emphasized that the war crimes committed by the militia are countless, but recruiting children and forcing them into combat is one of its most heinous violations, showing a complete disregard for human and child rights.
