Kamil Idris to Take Oath on Thursday; Battalion Fighters to Join Cabinet

Reliable sources told Sudan Tribune that the newly appointed Prime Minister, Kamil Idris, will be sworn in next Thursday in the administrative capital, Port Sudan. The sources also revealed that combat battalions will be included in the government set to be announced next month.

Matching sources and verified information gathered by Sudan Tribune confirm that factions fighting alongside the army—most notably the Al-Baraa Ibn Malik Battalion, which is affiliated with the Islamic movement, and the Sudan Shield Forces led by Abu Aqla Kikel—will be represented in the new government, expected to be announced immediately after the Eid al-Adha holiday.

The sources reported that Lieutenant General Yasir Al-Atta, Assistant Commander of the Army, is overseeing the process of integrating the battalions and other groups involved in the fighting into the new government.

According to the sources, participation in the new administration will be divided between the Juba Agreement signatories—namely the armed movements—and the groups fighting alongside the army.

It is anticipated that General al-Burhan will announce the dissolution of the current government and assign ministers and undersecretaries to handle ministry affairs within the coming hours.
