Darfur 24 has obtained information confirming that a training camp belonging to the RSF militia and Nyala Airport were attacked on Wednesday night, causing explosions in the area.
Eyewitnesses told Darfur 24 they saw a red light in the southern direction of the city around 10:45 PM, lasting for about a minute, followed by a loud explosion.
According to Darfur 24 sources, the explosion occurred inside the “Kashalngo” training camp affiliated with the RSF, resulting in injuries among the soldiers.
While the source of the attack could not be independently verified by Darfur 24, social media pages affiliated with the Sudanese Armed Forces reported an aerial attack on Nyala.
Eyewitness accounts varied. One resident from southern Nyala said he heard the sound of an Antonov aircraft before hearing the explosion near the training camp.
Another witness said a family living in the “Wahda South” neighborhood lost their son, who had been training at the Kashalngo camp when the attack occurred.
A medical source told Darfur 24 that at least 15 injured individuals arrived at a nearby hospital early Thursday morning. The nature and causes of the injuries were not disclosed.
Approximately 30 minutes after the explosion at the training camp, a cargo plane affiliated with the RSF landed at Nyala Airport.
Furthermore, three separate sources from eastern Nyala confirmed to Darfur 24 that an explosion occurred near Nyala International Airport at around 2:00 AM on Thursday. The sources also reported seeing a red light before the explosion.
Other witnesses from northeastern Nyala said the explosion near the airport was likely caused by a drone strike.
