Several Emirati officials, including one who is reportedly a relative of Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, were killed in an airstrike launched by the Sudanese army on Nyala Airport on May 3, according to Africa Confidential.
The report states that the strike aimed to disrupt the logistical supply network of the RSF militia, which relies on Emirati supply lines. The attack resulted in the deaths of dozens of RSF fighters and injured many others, including foreign nationals who were awaiting evacuation.
Estimates indicate that this strike prompted the RSF to escalate its use of more advanced drones, which have since been used to target strategic locations in Port Sudan.
