The Sudanese government expressed its deep concern and condemnation over the grave incident that occurred on Monday evening, in which United Nations humanitarian aid vehicles were treacherously attacked using offensive drones belonging to the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia. The attack took place in the Al-Kuma area of North Darfur in a deliberate attempt to block humanitarian teams and obstruct their mission to deliver aid to civilians besieged in El Fasher and the surrounding displacement camps.
According to a statement from the spokesperson of the Ministry of Culture and Information, these criminal attacks resulted in the destruction of several UN trucks and the martyrdom of several guards, drivers, and civilians, in addition to the injury of others among the convoy’s protection personnel.
The Sudanese government confirmed that this attack constitutes a blatant violation of international humanitarian law and a direct, deliberate undermining of the ongoing efforts by the government, in cooperation with the United Nations and international organizations, to deliver urgent humanitarian aid to war-affected civilians.
The statement concluded: “While the government rejects this criminal conduct by the militia, it reaffirms its full cooperation with the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to continue efforts to deliver aid to citizens in areas besieged by the militia.”
