Army Repels Another Attack by SPLM-N in South Kordofan

On Wednesday, the Sudanese army repelled a new offensive by the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu, which targeted at least two areas in South Kordofan State.

Major General Faisal Mokhtar Al-Sayer, commander of the 14th Infantry Division in Kadugli, stated after an emergency meeting of the South Kordofan State Security Committee that “the army, the intelligence service, and mobilized volunteers repelled a new attack by the SPLM that targeted the Samasam and Kika Al-Khayl areas.”

He reported that the attacking forces suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment, and affirmed the readiness and vigilance of the armed forces in defeating any rebel or traitorous enemy.

Meanwhile, the Governor of South Kordofan, Mohamed Ibrahim Abdel Karim, stated that the areas of Dashoul, Samasam, and Kika Al-Khayl are considered vital and strategic, connecting the national road linking Dilling and Kadugli — a route that had remained closed for two years before being reopened by the army.

He accused both the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM-N (Al-Hilu faction) of attempting to re-close this critical road and thus revive the suffering of unarmed civilians.

He added, “But thanks to God, the armed forces and other security bodies managed to repel the unjust aggression and inflicted heavy losses on the attackers.”

The governor reassured the public that South Kordofan will remain strong and unyielding and called on citizens to rally around the armed forces and support them in defense of the homeland.
