Sudan Refutes Allegations by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

Sudan’s Permanent Representative in Geneva, Ambassador Hassan Hamid, refuted the false claims made in the statement by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, particularly those referring to the Sudanese Armed Forces and allegations of arbitrary executions following the liberation of Khartoum.

Ambassador Hamid firmly rejected such accusations, stating that they were based on anonymous sources and information obtained from activists, organizations, and entities aligned with the rebel militia.

He said, “We had expected the High Commissioner to focus on the mass executions of thousands of civilians on a broader scale and the liquidation of hundreds—indeed, the genocide witnessed by all. Who has not followed and seen the atrocities committed by the rebel militia that have shaken the human conscience across the globe?”

The ambassador continued, “We are even more surprised considering the Office of the High Commissioner has a presence in Sudan, with open access to obtain accurate information from credible sources. Additionally, the designated expert regularly visits the country and also has access to reliable sources.”

He further stated, “The Sudanese Armed Forces have a well-established history of commitment to international humanitarian law, with solid partnerships and multiple memorandums of understanding in place, including with the International Committee of the Red Cross. International humanitarian law is also taught in all military colleges, institutes, and academies.”

He stressed that any isolated and unverified individual incidents have immediately prompted the formation of investigative committees. He concluded by stating that making such unfounded allegations against the Sudanese Armed Forces only serves to give the rebel militia a green light to continue its violations and atrocities.
