Activists issued an urgent appeal on Friday to provide food supplies and rescue the residents of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State, amid a severe deterioration in living conditions.
A statement by the Coordination of Resistance Committees in El Fasher said:
“In light of this critical humanitarian situation, we issue an urgent call for immediate intervention to provide essential goods and find sustainable solutions that can restore stability and ensure the survival of the population in El Fasher.”
The statement explained that markets are suffering from an acute shortage of basic goods due to disrupted supply chains and lack of stability. It noted that currency collapse and resource scarcity have severely impacted the prices of essential commodities, making them unaffordable for the vast majority of citizens.
It added: “Even when some goods are available, the lack of cash prevents people from making purchases, further worsening the humanitarian crisis.”
