Official: Imminent Breakthrough in El Fasher Siege via Airdrops

The Director General of the Ministry of Health in North Darfur State, Ibrahim Khater, announced an imminent breakthrough in the siege crisis facing El Fasher, with the resumption of vital airdrop operations.

During a meeting with hospital officials and workers in El Fasher, as reported by the North Darfur Ministry of Health on Saturday, Khater discussed additional measures to break the siege on the city.

Khater pointed to the ongoing artillery shelling and tight blockade imposed on El Fasher, which has resulted in severe shortages of medicines, medical supplies, and food. This situation has led to the displacement of large numbers of civilians, including medical and healthcare personnel.

He added, “We bring you good news: a breakthrough and lifting of the siege on El Fasher is imminent, according to reports from relevant authorities, through airdrops and other measures to relieve the blockade on the city.”

Khater stated that the current phase is similar to the beginning of the war and requires increased patience, resilience, cooperation, and morale. He expressed his gratitude to all healthcare workers, emphasizing that the Ministry of Health in North Darfur is determined to provide health services regardless of the challenges.
