Islamist Leader: The Islamist Current Faces Exclusion

Qusay Mahjoub, Assistant Secretary-General of the Future Movement for Reform and Development, criticized what he described as the “political miscalculation” of the Islamic Movement’s leadership in Sudan. He warned that this strategic error would push Islamists to the margins of the public sphere and lead to their exclusion from political platforms and power.

In statements, Mahjoub said that despite the sacrifices made by Islamists in the Battle of Dignity, “they still believe that merely participating in the defense of the state automatically entitles them to power.” He added, “Their reliance on ballot boxes in the midst of a regionally and internationally orchestrated chaos project is a form of political naivety.”

He further stated, “Ballot boxes will not be opened until a carefully manufactured elite is guaranteed to rise, created by those managing the chaos project in Sudan.” He emphasized that the current political landscape does not recognize ethics or standards of justice and righteousness, but is instead governed by interests and transnational agendas.

He stressed that Islamists today face an existential challenge that goes beyond traditional calculations and that the moment requires a radical reassessment of their political trajectory—away from passive waiting or doomed bets.
