The federal task force for the cholera vaccination campaign in Sennar State reported that 146,408 people were vaccinated within two days, out of the total campaign target of 547,951 people over the ten-day campaign period.
In a meeting held at the General Directorate of Primary Health Care in Kassala city, the task force reviewed a report from the communications officer, which included plans from federal supervisors, their observations on teams and households, side effects, cholera case monitoring during the campaign, and reports on health promotion activities. These included home visits, media messaging through various platforms, community dialogues led by local leaders, mobile outreach, and mosque announcements. The report also covered supply status and coverage rates up to the second day of the campaign (Friday).
Task force head Hashem Al-Tayeb confirmed that the campaign is proceeding as planned, including daily and cumulative coverage targets. He urged all eligible individuals to get vaccinated promptly to boost immunity and ensure protection.
The task force emphasized that prevention is not limited to vaccination, but also includes precautionary measures such as regular handwashing with soap and water, avoiding contaminated food, and using safe and clean drinking water.
