Sudanese Refugees Killed and Injured in Central African Republic Camp

A Sudanese refugee was killed in the “Birao” camp for Sudanese refugees in the Central African Republic.

There are growing concerns that the ongoing violence between the Sudanese Ta’isha and Kara tribes, which erupted last June, may spread to refugee camps amid persistent tensions in the border areas.

A Sudanese refugee in the Birao camp told Darfur24 on Monday that Yakoub Osman, a refugee from the Ta’isha tribe, was brutally murdered inside the camp on Sunday by a group of individuals from the Kara tribe. Two others were seriously injured in the attack.

He explained that an armed group wielding bladed weapons attacked a communication center operated by the victim and demanded that he hand over his Starlink satellite internet device.

“When Yakoub Osman refused to hand over the device, the attackers beat him to death, and seriously injured two others,” he added.

The incident has sparked widespread fear and panic among refugees in the camp.
