Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, arrived Wednesday in the city of Dongola, the capital of Northern State.
Upon his arrival, al-Burhan was met with a massive public reception.
Separately, al-Burhan issued a decision to form a High National Committee chaired by General Ibrahim Jabir. The committee includes several Sovereignty Council members, federal ministers, the Governor of Khartoum, and representatives from relevant institutions.
According to the decision, the committee’s main objective is to prepare Khartoum State for the swift return of federal institutions and civilians.
This step comes as part of the transitional authority’s efforts to restore state structures, reactivate public institutions, improve local governance, and bring services back to the capital, which has suffered institutional paralysis due to ongoing conflict.
The committee is expected to have the authority to draft strategic reconstruction plans and ensure the restoration of services and security for the residents of Khartoum, with the active involvement of all relevant executive bodies.
