Four girls and a child were killed on Wednesday in an artillery strike on El Fasher, North Darfur, as ground battles reignited between warring factions.
Local sources told Sudan Tribune that “at least four girls and one child were killed in an artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the Al-Wadi neighborhood in El Fasher.”
The clashes reportedly resumed between the army and its allied armed movements against the RSF on the eastern and southern fronts of the city.
Sources added that the RSF launched a heavy barrage of artillery fire from the early morning hours, with shells landing in the western and northern parts of El Fasher and near the headquarters of the Sixth Division. The militia then attempted to storm army positions near the Al-Mudarrag neighborhood in the south, but were repelled by the military.
