The High Committee of the Popular Initiative to Thank the Government and People of Turkey has set Saturday, August 2nd, as the date for a ceremony to honor the Republic of Turkey. The event will be held under the slogan: “Thank You, Turkey… Thank You, Erdoğan” on Suakin Island in the Red Sea State.
The tribute is in recognition and gratitude for the support Turkey and President Erdoğan have provided to Sudan and its people during the recent period, particularly during Sudan’s battle for dignity against the rebel militia.
Lieutenant General Omar Nimir, head of the Nations League Organization and chairman of the High Committee, reviewed the preparations and arrangements for the ceremony during a meeting with members and leaders of the League on Sunday at the Officers’ Club in Port Sudan. He praised the committees’ efforts in preparing for the celebration.
Nimir stated that Turkey has consistently taken a strong and honorable stance in supporting Sudan—both government and people—in the war for dignity. He commended President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for his significant role in supporting Sudan’s causes, both internally and on international platforms.
He confirmed the attendance of high-level figures from the Sovereignty Council and the Council of Ministers, as well as representatives from the military, security, and police forces. The Turkish ambassador, along with a notable number of tribal leaders, community figures, youth, women, and civil society organizations, are also expected to attend.
The ceremony will include various activities, with a special segment for presenting gifts and honors to the Republic of Turkey and its president.
It’s worth noting that the Nations League Organization has previously honored Eritrea, Russia, Egypt, and Qatar.
