Government Meeting Discusses Obstacles to Delivering Humanitarian Aid to Those in Need

Lieutenant General Al-Sadiq Ismail Mahmoud, Advisor to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council for Organizations and Humanitarian Affairs, held a meeting on Saturday that included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Humanitarian Aid Commission, and the World Food Programme to examine the obstacles hindering the delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.

Salwa Adam Benya, Commissioner of the Humanitarian Aid Commission, stated in a press release that the meeting addressed several issues, including the arrival of aid trucks without authorization, which constitutes a violation of the agreement, as well as the entry of Chadian vehicles into Sudanese territory without a permit.

She clarified that the Sudanese government has fulfilled its commitments by opening all crossings to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid. She added that the meeting focused on the importance of delivering aid to areas in need, including routes from Al-Dabba to El Fasher, Tawila to El Fasher, and Adre to El Fasher.

The meeting also emphasized the need to deliver aid to South Kordofan State, particularly in Kadugli and Dilling.

The Commissioner confirmed that the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has been obstructing aid convoys and hindering the flow of humanitarian assistance to those who need it most.

On his part, the Director of the World Food Programme described the meeting as productive and successful, stating that its positive outcomes will reflect on the humanitarian operations in Sudan. He noted that the meeting addressed several issues, especially the critical humanitarian conditions in El Fasher, as well as the situation in Kadugli and other areas suffering from food shortages. He added that the Programme continues to provide assistance despite the challenges faced.
