Prime Minister Urges Tribal Leaders to Play Key Role in National Recovery

Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idris called on tribal leaders and community figures to play a significant role in the “Government of Hope” initiative to achieve national healing, rebuild what the war has destroyed, and reshape the country’s social fabric. He stressed that the nation is in dire need of the wisdom of traditional leadership at this time.

Meeting with a delegation from the Supreme Council for Native Administration at the ministry complex in Port Sudan on Monday, the Prime Minister discussed how to create a supportive social environment for the success of the transitional period. He emphasized the critical role native administrations play within their communities and urged utilizing that role for national interests.

Federal Governance Minister Mohamed Kortikela also participated in the meeting and addressed the status of the Native Administration Law. He stated that the war has led to outcomes requiring a review of the law, revealing that the review has already been completed, and preparations are underway for workshops to improve the performance of native administrations in line with the requirements of building a lawful state.

The native administration delegation discussed their potential roles in supporting the “Dignity War,” contributing to grassroots diplomacy, and helping address the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

The meeting concluded with an agreement on the need for coordination with the armed forces, allied forces, and relevant authorities to break the siege on El Fasher and other cities in Darfur and Kordofan, as well as to involve the native administration in the Social Peace Council.
