The Director of Sudan’s National Mine Action Center, Maj. Gen. Khalid Hamdan, announced the destruction of 14 landmines planted by the RSF in Al-Sunut area, Khartoum.
Speaking to Al-Tara Sudan, Hamdan said the center’s teams had successfully neutralized 14 anti-personnel mines laid between the Medical Corps Bridge and Al-Fitayhab Bridge, toward the Martyr’s Mosque.
He stated that the RSF has planted large numbers of landmines in various locations across Khartoum to hinder the advance of the Sudanese Armed Forces, causing dozens of civilian casualties.
Hamdan explained that the mines, which detonate under any weight, are being dismantled by specialized teams due to their extreme danger. He stressed that the explosives destroyed so far are only part of what has been discovered, and the search for more is ongoing — a process requiring considerable time and meticulous safety procedures.
He reaffirmed the center’s commitment to continuing mine clearance operations in Khartoum State until it is declared free of mines and unexploded ordnance, paving the way for the safe return of displaced residents and the restoration of normal life.
