Aqaar Arrives in Juba and Meets Salva Kiir

Malik Aqaar, Vice Chairman of the Sovereign Council, arrived in Juba on Monday for an official visit focused on bilateral relations and ways to support joint cooperation prospects.
Aqaar met with South Sudanese President Salva Kiir Mayardit, discussing the latest political and military developments in Sudan as well as the humanitarian situation and the ongoing siege of resilient El Fasher. He briefed President Kiir on the significant progress made by the armed forces in rooting out the rebel militias.
The meeting also covered Sudan’s stance and the rejection by international and regional organizations of the formation of a so-called parallel government by the Rapid Support Forces militia and their political allies.
Aqaar noted that they discussed activating joint ministerial committees between the two countries, especially the political and security committees, along with issues affecting citizens of both nations—particularly refugee matters caused by the war. He extended an invitation to President Kiir to visit Sudan, which was accepted, with arrangements to be made through diplomatic channels.
President Kiir reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting stability in Sudan and continuing cooperation between the two nations.
Additionally, Aqaar met with South Sudan’s Vice President, Riek Machar, to discuss shared interests, economic cooperation, and other topics.
