The Sudanese government on Wednesday welcomed the press statement issued by the United Nations Security Council, which declared its categorical rejection of the militia’s announcement of forming a parallel government in Sudan.
The Security Council described the move as a direct threat to Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity, reaffirming its steadfast commitment to the country’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial unity. It also warned of the consequences of the actions taken by the militia and its political alliance, saying they jeopardize the future of Sudan and the entire region.
In a statement, Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that the Security Council recalled its Resolution 2736 (2024), which demands that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) lift their siege of El Fasher, cease hostilities, and allow unimpeded humanitarian access.
The ministry commended the Security Council’s unequivocal condemnation and rejection of the actions of what it described as “the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia.”
It also pointed to similar past statements from regional and international organizations, the UN Secretary-General, friendly nations, and other stakeholders, which reflect an international consensus rejecting the militia and its political alliance.
The Sudanese government reiterated its firm commitment to preserving the safety, security, stability, unity, and sovereignty of the country, affirming its readiness to work with the international community in accordance with laws and principles that serve the interests of the Sudanese people.
