Central Darfur Governor: International Organizations Cannot Save El Fasher Residents

Mustafa Tambour, Deputy Governor of Darfur and Governor of Central Darfur, urged against relying on the international community and aid organizations to deliver humanitarian assistance to the city of El Fasher in North Darfur.

He revealed that the United Nations has failed to deliver aid to civilians trapped in El Fasher and emphasized, “We must all work from within the country to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of El Fasher.”

Speaking on Friday to the National Initiative to Lift the Siege of El Fasher, Tambour said the conspiracy against the country requires a national stand and cooperation among all patriots. He explained that the initiative was launched under the guidance of Governor Minni Arko Minawi to support El Fasher residents.

Tambour noted that a national mechanism was formed, involving over 84 national figures working on the El Fasher issue to help lift the siege.

He criticized international organizations for their role, stating: “They have achieved record failure and will not be able to save the people of El Fasher.”

Tambour further explained that the suffering of El Fasher residents has intensified, with the price of a bag of corn exceeding 11 million Sudanese pounds, alongside shortages of all essential food items. He stressed the need to provide support to local community centers in El Fasher, including through a bank account where donations from businessmen and patriots can be sent directly to the residents.

He called for all available internal and external measures, including media campaigns, diplomatic efforts, mobilization through various channels, and the formation of committees to provide necessary support.
