Militia Imposes Fees on Farmers

Local farmers from towns in Beleil, east of Nyala, reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has been imposing fees on them under the pretext of “farmer protection.”

Farmer Abdullah Youssef told Darfur24 that RSF personnel demanded monthly payments from each farmer in the towns of Komski, Abu Adham, and Ashma in Beleil.

Abdullah added that those unable to pay the fees, ranging from 15,000 to 20,000 Sudanese pounds per month, risk being looted or attacked by armed individuals.

Meanwhile, several farmers from Abu Adham, Komski, Ashma, Jogan, and Hajir Tongu in Beleil reported experiencing violence and looting by armed herders.

They also mentioned that farmers Abkar and Sabour Jumaa were killed on their farms in early July by these groups, though the reasons for the killings remain unclear.

According to the farmers, incidents of violence have increased since the outbreak of the war, due to the widespread availability of weapons among both herders and farmers.
