Activists and medical sources reported on Saturday that at least 31 civilians were killed and dozens injured in one of the deadliest bombardments by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El Fasher city and Abu Shouk camp in North Darfur.
The Sudan Doctors’ Network stated: “31 people were killed, including seven children and a pregnant woman, and 13 others were injured due to artillery shelling by the RSF on Abu Shouk camp.”
The network condemned the attack as a deliberate targeting of a displacement camp already suffering from severe shortages of medicine, medical personnel, and food due to the ongoing siege of El Fasher, describing it as a potential war crime and crime against humanity under international humanitarian law.
Eyewitnesses told Sudan Tribune that among the victims were 11 worshippers killed inside Adam Hussein Mosque in Abu Shouk neighborhood.
The network urged the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council to take urgent action to pressure RSF leadership and provide immediate humanitarian assistance.
Additionally, the El Fasher Resistance Committees reported intensified RSF artillery shelling across residential neighborhoods, causing civilian casualties and extensive property and infrastructure damage.
