Governor of North Darfur: Forces Successfully Repel Militia Attack

North Darfur Governor Hafiz Bakhit Mohammed confirmed that the forces defending El Fasher successfully repelled a new attack launched by the RSF and allied mercenaries on Friday from multiple directions.

In a press statement on Saturday, the governor said the militia attacked the city from the north, northeast, and southwest using military vehicles, combat vehicles, and pack animals. The assault involved significant participation from the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement – North, led by Abdelaziz Al-Hilu, alongside large groups of foreign mercenaries.

Bakhit highlighted that the Sixth Infantry Division, the joint force, police, intelligence, and popular resistance displayed extraordinary courage in repelling the violent assault, forcing the enemy to flee and shattering the militia’s ambitions to seize El Fasher.

The governor congratulated the armed forces and allied units on their victories, affirming the government’s full support in the effort to lift the siege on El Fasher. He also commended forces fighting in the Kordofan region, describing their efforts as crucial to defeating the rebellion in both Kordofan and Darfur.
