Sudan: 73 Killed and Injured in Heavy Rains and Floods

Heavy rains and flash floods across Sudan have killed 42 people and injured 31 others, while more than 4,000 homes collapsed.

Major General Qirshi Hussein, Deputy Director of Civil Defense for Emergencies and Disasters, told Asharq Al-Awsat that the downpours in the capital and other states caused these casualties and damaged 4,883 homes.

He added that civil defense teams had drained accumulated floodwaters in various regions, and the Nile’s main river levels remained stable despite the inflow from floodwaters.
