Sudan’s ambassador to Cairo, Imad Adawi, announced that Egyptian authorities have agreed to expedite residency procedures for Sudanese citizens in response to demands from the Supreme Council of the Sudanese Community.
In a meeting with the council’s executive office, Adawi said the measures include a forthcoming decision to issue residency permits within two weeks of application, allowing Sudanese children to enroll in Egyptian schools before residency is finalized, and cutting security clearance procedures to no more than three days once requirements are met.
Adawi urged Sudanese community leaders to promote adherence to Egyptian laws and regulations and to ensure demands do not exceed the host country’s legal framework. He also called for joint cooperation to revitalize “Beit Al-Sudan” as a hub for community activities, particularly initiatives addressing social challenges and capacity building.
