Major General Shams al-Din Kabashi, member of the Sovereign Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, emphasized the military’s determination to liberate all territories from “rebel militias.”
During a Thursday meeting at the Secretariat of North Kordofan’s government with civil society representatives from North and West Kordofan, he reiterated the government’s firm stance against negotiating with militias, stating: “The war will only end with the surrender of rebels, traitors, and deserters.”
He assured citizens that Al-Obeid is secured, announcing the arrival of new advanced weapons, and described Al-Obeid, Al-Khowi, Al-Nahud, and Al-Dubibat as key entry points to Al-Fashir and other Darfur states.
The Deputy Commander-in-Chief also revealed directives to evacuate all combatants from Al-Obeid and restore state authority to ensure citizens’ safety, with joint forces tasked with enforcing security in the city. He pledged to address all obstacles related to livelihoods, providing citizens with dignified living conditions, and stressed the importance of civil-military coordination to preserve Sudan’s unity and territorial integrity.
