The International Criminal Court (ICC) announced on Monday that its Trial Chamber I has scheduled October 6, 2025, to issue its verdict in the case against Ali Muhammad Ali Abdel Rahman, known as “Ali Kushayb.”
In a statement, the court said the verdict—whether acquittal or conviction—will be delivered publicly in the courtroom and broadcast live on the ICC website.
It explained that under Article 74 of the Rome Statute, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty. The chamber will only convict if convinced that charges have been proven beyond reasonable doubt, basing its decision solely on applicable law, evidence, and arguments presented at trial.
Kushayb faces 31 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity for alleged offenses committed in Darfur between August 2003 and April 2004.
