Trump Adviser: Sudanese Situation is Painful

Masoud Boulos, adviser to former U.S. President Donald Trump on African affairs, described the humanitarian situation in Sudan as extremely painful due to the ongoing three-year conflict.

In an interview with Al Jazeera from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Boulos expressed regret over the lack of sufficient media coverage of the humanitarian catastrophe, despite the immense suffering of the Sudanese population.

He noted that the Trump administration has attached great importance to the issue, closely monitoring developments in Sudan as part of the U.S.-led Quartet in coordination with regional and international partners.

Boulos emphasized the need for an immediate and peaceful resolution to the conflict, citing tens of thousands of deaths, hundreds of thousands injured, and nearly 10 million displaced. He highlighted that Trump’s policy prioritizes supporting peace, referencing initiatives launched during his first term, including the Abraham Accords, which helped de-escalate several regional conflicts.
