Sudan: Sovereign Council Orders Acceleration of Digital Government Services in Khartoum

Member of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereign Council, Assistant Commander-in-Chief, and Chair of the Higher Committee for Preparing the Environment for Return to Khartoum State, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jaber Ibrahim, has directed the Ministry of Digital Transformation and Communications to expedite the integration of Khartoum State’s government transactions into the Baladna digital platform.

The move aims to achieve digital inclusivity and allow citizens to access government services online.

During a meeting attended by Minister of Digital Transformation and Communications Ahmed Al-Dardiri, representatives from the Baladna platform, and officials from Khartoum State’s Ministry of Finance, Jaber emphasized the importance of enhancing oversight, protecting public funds, and achieving full financial transparency.

He urged immediate development of a technical plan and completion of the design required to initiate digital transformation for all government services in Khartoum State within one month.

For his part, Minister Al-Dardiri explained that the Baladna digital platform facilitates data and service exchange among government institutions to build a unified and secure digital environment for citizens and institutions alike. He noted that about eight core government systems have been linked to enable data sharing across federal, state, and local levels — covering services for the public sector, private sector, and direct citizen transactions.

Meanwhile, Dr. Fakhr Al-Din Mohamed Shams Al-Din, a technical representative of the Baladna platform, said the meeting discussed citizen-oriented e-services within Sudan’s Integrated Digital Transformation Project, and reviewed plans to activate the platform in Khartoum State.
